Udaipur is best experienced slowly. Start near Lake Pichola and let the city unfold through narrow lanes, whitewashed havelis, rooftop cafes and palace walls. City Palace needs a few focused hours, especially if you enjoy courtyards, balconies and lake-facing windows. In the evening, take a boat ride or sit at a rooftop cafe where the lake catches the last light. Keep Fateh Sagar Lake for a quieter evening and add Sajjangarh Monsoon Palace if the sky is clear.
